Professional Disclosure Statement
Professional Disclosure: Bienvenidos a Lighthouse Counseling. Therapy is based upon boundaries and trust. Please carefully review the following information since it is the foundation on which our counseling relationship will be built.
I am Jessica Salinas Rodriguez, and I have extensive experience with Active Duty, Veterans, First Responders, their families, and survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence. I work with Individuals, Couples, Active Duty, Veterans, and their families.
Professional Standards: I have been licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2014 as a Professional Counselor. I am also a member of the AACC and therefore follow their code of ethics as well as the established code of ethics provided by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
Education and Experience: I earned a Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Throughout the years I have taken part in various trainings in Crisis Stress Incident Management (CISM), Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), Suicide Prevention and Postvention, Polyvagal Theory, and Eye Movement Intergration (EMI). I teach psychological first aid to first responders/military and currently sit on the development board of the Peer to Peer program for EMS.
Therapeutic Orientation: Generally speaking, I’m eclectic in my approach, meaning that I take skills from different therapeutic approaches and use them when I deem them appropriate. I utilize EMI for trauma therapy, I also utilized parts of CBT and DBT, and enjoy using tenets from solution-focused therapy when we set goals. I can tell you more about each of these approaches. I will use manualized treatments and bibliotherapy, which means that I will at some point assign you books to read or listen to and workbooks or journals to work through as part of our approach.
