Education and Licensure:
– Bachelor’s of Science in Recreational Therapy with a minor in Psychology, Longwood University, Farmville, VA 2016
– Master’s of Social Work (MSW), University of Alabama, 2021
Experience:
I have experience working as a Recreational Therapist in senior living facilities and in an inpatient/outpatient psychiatric facility. During my graduate program, I gained experience answering calls on the 211 Crisis Hotline and the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. I then worked for three years, under supervision, at a private practice as an Outpatient Therapist. In March 2024, I became a fully licensed LCSW and currently hold a license in both North Carolina and Virginia.
Populations Served:
I have experience working with individuals, ages 6 and up. During my time as an outpatient therapist, I treated children, adolescents, and adults.
Therapeutic Orientation:
I am extremely passionate about therapy and helping others. I am a firm believer in therapy being beneficial for everyone, no matter the timing in life. I strive to make therapy a comfortable, safe space that you can look forward to each session. I generally take a strength-based and person-centered approach by utilizing empathetic listening and implementing a wide variety of different interventions to help meet the unique needs of each of my clients. I believe whole-heartedly in a strong therapeutic relationship being a major factor of an individual’s healing. My approach is grounded in Christian values, which I am happy to integrate into sessions, based on your preference and comfortability.
Trainings and Certifications:
I have training in a variety of interventions including but not limited to; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Integration (EMI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).

I abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)’s code of ethics. I also abide by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (NCSWCLB) and Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Social Work.
As a client, you have the right to be an informed consumer and as such may choose the provider which best suits your needs. You may also request a referral to another counselor or ask for a change in the treatment approach at any time. You have the right to seek a second opinion about your condition and treatment. It is extremely important that counseling be a safe place for you.
