Meichell Worthing, MA, LPC

Owner and Director of Lighthouse Counseling

Meichell Worthing started Lighthouse in 2008 wanting to see Jesus bind up the broken-hearted (Isaiah 61). She began expanding Lighthouse by taking on additional clinical staff in October of 2018. In 2023, we started a consulting and coaching program to meet non-clinical support needs. In 2024, Lighthouse Counseling and Psychotherapy LLC officially divided into four separate service programs. Lighthouse Counseling, Lighthouse Consulting and Coaching, Lighthouse Christian Somatics and Lighthouse Prayer Ministry and under the umbrella organization Lighthouse Counseling and Psychotherapy LLC. The goal is to establish a multi-disciplinary, solidly Christian team to meet the varying needs, Mind, Body and Spirit of the community of Hampton Roads and beyond. Lighthouse has contracts, supports or is connected with several organizations, businesses, para-church ministries and churches that serve the underprivileged and Christian community. This includes PiN Ministry (serving the homeless), Freekind, Survivor Ventures, Safe House Project and Latisha’s House (all anti-sex trafficking organizations), AGI (local business), WholeWay Trinity Church, Big House Church, Vanguard Ministries, Lighthouse for Christ Mission (Mombasa, Kenya), Grace Bible Church, Alive Church and Ascent Church, RUN Ministry.

Meichell Worthing, Owner of Lighthouse Counseling, has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2007. She has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Eye Movement Integration (EMI), Play Therapy, IFS Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Sozo inner healing prayer. She specializes in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. She is an ordained minister through Vanguard Ministries. She has professional and personal experience with both military and first responder life as well as infertility and adoption. Her heart’s passion is to partner with God to see Isaiah 61 fulfilled on earth, to bind up the broken hearted.

Lacy has been licensed in Virginia since 2011. She counsels in a way that is consistent with her Christian beliefs, integrating when the client is comfortable. She works with anxiety, depression, trauma, and difficult life transitions. Lacy is certified in level one Complex Trauma, EMDR, EMI, Trust Based Relationships and Intervention (TBRI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Jessica is passionate about working with First Responder and Military Communities. Over the years, she has also worked with survivors of human trafficking and trauma. She earned a Bachelor’s in History with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University and later earned a Master’s from Liberty in Professional Counseling. Working in the Hampton Roads area since 2011, she has experience and skills related to Military Life and Transitions, First Responder Care, Posttraumatic Stress/Posttraumatic Growth, Peer to Peer support, Psychological First Aid training for First Responders and is a Public Speaker. She is trained in Eye Movement Integration, Crisis Stress Incident Management, Crisis Intervention Training, and various modalities of treatment for trauma.

Kristin Stock is a Licensed Resident in Counseling. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a former School Counselor and educator. She currently works with adults and couples who are working through family of origin issues, marriage conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, communication skills, work/life balance and burnout. Having spent much of her time working with the military community, Jill has over 12 years of experience working with Community Mental Health. She works with adults and couples, specializing in depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief/loss, PTSD, women’s issues, military lifestyle, marital issues, pre-marital counseling, infertility, and improving communication skills. Jill is certified in Emergency Admission Pre-Screening, EMI, and Gottman Level 1. Jill is passionate about assisting clients in their pursuit of wholeness, growth, and healing.

John “Matt” Sharp, MA, LRIC

John “Matt” Sharp is a Licensed Resident in Counseling at Lighthouse. Since the earliest days of his internship with us he has worked to bring the most current and evidence-based practices into his approach to working with children and teens. He works collaboratively with parents as well as individually with juvenile clients as whole families try to navigate the difficulties of growing up in a modern world. He makes is a point to orient his counseling approach to each client’s unique needs and worldview, which has helped greatly as he seeks out further specialization in working with clients dealing with Autism, ADHD, ODD, discipline and behavioral issues, self esteem/confidence. Matt also brings a unique perspective to the practice as a prior military member and law enforcement officer, which allows him to move with familiarity into the spaces of clients who are grappling with those issues which those professions create. He is also currently in the process of receiving his certification in PCIT as well as becoming a therapeutic game master to increase the types of therapy he can offer.

She holds a BS in Counseling with a minor in Psychology from ODU and an MA in Counseling from Regent University. Jodi has experience in EMDR, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, EFT, TF-CBT, Ecological Momentary Intervention (EMI), and Inner Healing. She believes in a holistic approach to healing, wholeness, and restoration. Her life’s purpose is to share the Good News as a minister of the Gospel, to heal the brokenhearted and to proclaim liberty to those in captivity.

Margo specializes in counseling students ages 6-17 with behavior concerns, social emotional deficits, friendship issues, grief, self-esteem and identity concerns, and self harm/suicidal ideation. Sylvia Chipman is a Marriage Coach and SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) Certified Premarital Counselor. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Human Services with a Marriage and Family Ministry concentration from Regent University. Sylvia enjoys working with engaged and newlywed couples to build a strong foundation a for thriving marriage. She is passionate about helping married couples who are feeling disconnected from each other or frustrated by lack of communication and unhealthy conflict cycles. Sylvia excels in bridging communication gaps and equipping clients with the skills to break unhealthy marital habits. While Sylvia works with couples of all ages and in all stages of marriage, as a retired military spouse, she holds a special place in her heart for the military couple and understands the unique challenges they face.

Moreover, she is passionate about using creative experiences for therapeutic expression and exploring topics of faith with her clients.

Molly Herman is a native to Virginia Beach with a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.   She is currently a resident under supervision with a prior background working with addictions and sexual trauma. She’s worked in elementary schools, children’s hospitals, and military bases, where she adeptly taught children emotional regulation and coping skills. Known for her authenticity and empathy, Mary Kate is particularly passionate about supporting children navigating intense emotions. Gina Signorello is a Counseling Intern completing her final semester in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at Regent University. She is a military spouse, and former teacher and is currently working as a school counselor while completing her internship. Gina’s orientation to counseling is based on Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Strengths-Based approaches that incorporate elements of DBT, IFS, EMI, and play therapy when appropriate. Megan worked as an Outpatient Therapist in a private practice in North Carolina prior to moving to Virginia Beach. She holds a BS in Counseling with a minor in Psychology from ODU and an MA in Counseling from Regent University. Jodi has experience in EMDR, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, EFT, TF-CBT, and Inner Healing. She believes in a holistic approach to healing, wholeness, and restoration. Sylvia Chipman is a Marriage Coach and SYMBIS Certified Premarital Counselor. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Human Services with a Marriage and Family Ministry concentration from Regent University. As a retired military spouse, Sylvia is passionate about helping to build strong (deployment-proof) marriages.  She works with all stages of married couples but holds a special place in her heart for the military couple and understands the unique challenges that being married in the military may present.

Molly Herman is a native to Virginia Beach with a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She is currently a resident under supervision with a prior background working with addictions and sexual trauma. Her approach to counseling is based in reality therapy with a person-centered focus which attempts to promote emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Molly is an empathetic listener with a heart for restoration and a passion to walk with the hurting and lonely.

Mackenzie’s clinical experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, grief, personality disorders, relational conflict, self-esteem, trauma, life transitions, and career counseling. She’s worked in elementary schools, children’s hospitals, and military bases, where she adeptly taught children emotional regulation and coping skills. Known for her authenticity and empathy, Mary Kate is particularly passionate about supporting children navigating intense emotions. Her counseling practice extends to adolescents, teens and military families dealing with anxiety, life transitions, trauma, and self-esteem issues. Christina has been married for 30 years and has three adult children and three grandchildren. Now in her third act, and called by scripture, Titus 2, where the older women are urged to teach and encourage the younger. Christina serves women, couples, and families. She works with children 12+ on a case-by-case basis. Her therapeutic style is exploratory, individualized, and future-focused. Her clinical experience includes anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, trauma, PTSD, OCD, ASD, and ADHD. Gina Signorello is a Counseling Intern completing her final semester in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at Regent University. She is a military spouse, and former teacher and is currently working as a school counselor while completing her internship. Gina’s orientation to counseling is based on Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Strengths-Based approaches that incorporate elements of DBT, IFS, EMI, and play therapy when appropriate. She works with individuals with anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, self-esteem, military issues, relational conflict, trauma, grief/loss, parenting, and premarital counseling. Gina is dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental, nurturing environment to support adults, teens, and children in gaining insights, navigating challenges, and working towards desired goals.

Megan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensed in both Virginia and North Carolina.  She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreational Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Megan worked as an Outpatient Therapist in a private practice in North Carolina prior to moving to Virginia Beach. Her clinical experience includes trauma, maternal mental health, depression, anxiety, grief, suicidal ideation, stress management, and adjustment disorders. Megan is trained in interventions such as TF-CBT, EMDR, and EMI. She believes whole-heartedly in building a strong therapeutic relationship and is passionate about helping others on their healing journey.
