Professional Disclosure Statement

Introduction

Counseling is a journey we take together. My role is to provide a safe and respectful space, grounded in empathy, where my clients can heal, grow, and move toward wholeness in mind, body, and spirit. I believe deeply in the power of hope and grace to bring renewal, even in the midst of great difficulty.

Education and Experience

I hold a BS in Nursing (2003, University of Saskatchewan) and have over 20 years of nursing experience in oncology and mental health. I currently serve as a psychiatric nurse in inpatient care with children and adolescents, supporting youth who face challenges such as anxiety, depression, identity concerns, self-harm, difficult life adjustments, and diagnoses including ADHD and autism.

In addition, I work with adults and bring specialized knowledge in substance use, cancer survivorship, adoption, and the LGBTQ community. My work with adults often centers on navigating emotional pain, discovering purpose in suffering, and finding light by courageously facing the darkness. My education, years of nursing,, and transformative life experience strengthen my professional identity as a counselor by grounding my work in compassion, clinical expertise, and holistic care.

I am completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I am currently under supervision at Lighthouse Counseling. My supervisor’s name is Margo Litzenberg, LPC. You can reach her at margo@lighthouse-counselingllc.com. Supervision adds an extra  layer of support, guidance, and accountability that greatly benefits client care.

Counseling Orientation

I use an integrative approach including (CBT) cognitive behavioral therapy, (ACT) acceptance and commitment therapy, and (DBT) dialectical behavior therapy, informed by family systems, and attachment perspectives. Existential reflection is woven throughout all of my work, helping clients explore meaning and purpose while developing practical skills. My goal is to support clients in discovering their soul-affirming motivation to live the lives they are divinely purposed to live. If a client’s needs extend beyond my scope of practice, I will make a referral to ensure they receive the most appropriate and effective care.
