What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that emphasizes the development of skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT integrates individual therapy with group skills training, focusing on helping individuals manage intense emotions and improve relationships. The therapy promotes a balance between acceptance and change, encouraging clients to accept their experiences while working towards meaningful change in their behaviors and thoughts.

Margo Litzenberg, MA, LRIC

Margo Litzenberg is a Licensed Resident in Counseling (LRIC), a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed School Counselor. Margo specializes in counseling students ages 6-17 with behavior concerns, social emotional deficits, friendship issues, grief, self-esteem and identity concerns, and self harm/suicidal ideation. She also provides family counseling with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Ecological Momentary Intervention (EMI), Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) and Adlerian Therapy.

Carly Park, LMSW

Carly is a Licensed Supervisee in Clinical Social Work. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She is a follower of Jesus and is passionate about walking alongside individuals to facilitate healing and personal growth. Carly uses a person-centered approach, CBT, and incorporates aspects of IFS, DBT, ACT, and Spiritual Integration as suitable. Her clinical experience includes working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. Carly works with children 5+, adolescents, and adults.

Christina Messer, LRIC

Christina is a Licensed Resident in Counseling (LRIC). She has a Bachelor of science in Sociology and a Master of Science in Education, emphasis Clinical Mental Health, from Old Dominion University. Christina has been married for 30 years and has three adult children and three grandchildren. Now in her third act, and called by scripture, Titus 2, where the older women are urged to teach and encourage the younger. Christina serves women, couples, and families. She works with children 12+ on a case-by-case basis. Her therapeutic style is exploratory, individualized, and future-focused. Her clinical experience includes anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, trauma, PTSD, OCD, ASD, and ADHD. Her personal experience extends to life and career transitions, empty-nest, childhood trauma, sexual issues, family military issues, blended and foster families, illness, and grief/loss/death. Her preferred therapeutic modalities include: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Positive Psychology, with Spiritual/Scriptural Integrations.
