Welcome to Lighthouse Counseling. Therapy is based upon boundaries and trust. Please carefully review the following information since it is the foundation on which the counseling relationship is built.

Allison Picini, Counseling Intern

Professional Disclosure Statement

Professional Standards & Ethics

I am a clinical counseling intern under the supervision of Emileigh Allen, MA, LPC. All diagnoses, treatment notes, and cases are reviewed, staffed, and monitored by my supervisor to ensure the highest quality of care.

I adhere to the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association (ACA), which can be found at: https://www.counseling.org/docs/default-source/default-document-library/ethics/2014-aca-code-of-ethics.pdf. These ethical guidelines outline my responsibility to maintain a professional and appropriate therapeutic relationship with clients, emphasizing the core values of the counseling profession and the sacred nature of the therapeutic alliance. By following these standards, I can function at my highest potential while prioritizing what is in your best interest as my client.

Education & Experience

I am completing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Narrative-Focused Trauma Care and am currently pursuing certification in this specialized approach. Additionally, I am working toward a Master’s degree in Theology and Culture with an emphasis on Community Engagement, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

My background includes co-creating and co-facilitating trauma-informed groups within my faith community, presenting at professional and academic conferences, and serving as a student fellow at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. Drawing from my professional background in community ministry, operations leadership, and the arts, I bring a collaborative and creative perspective to therapeutic work.

I specialize in working with women who have experienced complex trauma, those experiencing or transitioning from homelessness, and survivors of abuse. I provide this specialized care in both individual and group therapy settings. Should we determine that my clinical experience may not effectively address your specific needs, I will provide appropriate referrals to ensure you receive the most suitable care.

Theoretical Orientation

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that we become who we are through a complex network of relationships—with ourselves, others, the divine, and the world around us. As embodied beings, we exist in constant relationship with our environment, whether those connections are nurturing or harmful.

I believe that true understanding of the self requires integration of mind, body, and spirit. Separating these interconnected aspects limits our ability to conceptualize the whole person and provide genuinely transformational care. Given this holistic understanding, my therapeutic approach honors the complexity of human experience by integrating depth-oriented, person-centered, wellness-based, and polyvagal-informed therapies.

Important note: Clients are never required to participate in any therapeutic modality—clinical or spiritual—at any time. Your comfort, consent, and autonomy are paramount throughout our work together.

Confidentiality & Its Limits

Your privacy is important and what you share in counseling is confidential. However, there are specific situations that fall outside this confidentiality: when there is risk of imminent harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or when records are subpoenaed by a court of law. I will always strive to discuss these limits with you and maintain transparency about any necessary disclosures while honoring your dignity and the therapeutic relationship.

Commitment to Inclusion & Celebrating Difference

I am dedicated to creating inclusive therapeutic spaces where all people feel truly seen, welcomed, and empowered. My counseling practice operates as a judgment-free zone where your authentic self is honored and respected.

I recognize that our core beliefs may differ in various areas, and you are not only welcomed but encouraged to discuss these differences with me. Please feel comfortable sharing any concerns and asking questions about any aspect of the counseling process, including treatment approaches, your progress, or the termination of our therapeutic relationship.

Your voice, perspective, and experience are valued here, and open dialogue strengthens our therapeutic partnership.
