Victoria Bergstrom

Professional Disclosure Statement

Welcome to Lighthouse Counseling! My name is Victoria Bergstrom, and I am an intern student at Regent University working towards my license in clinical mental health counseling. I am passionate about seeing others overcome obstacles, walk into healing, and grow in their identity. I believe that there is hope for anyone no matter the circumstances and issues they may be facing. The key ingredient to a more healthful life is choosing to commit to the process. You have taken the first step towards growth by seeking out counseling. This process will be exciting, insightful, and, at times, uncomfortable as feelings and emotions arise. I commit to providing you a compassionate ear, support, and guidance as you process through your journey. Together we will work through challenges that have held you back from your life goals. I look forward to working with you and seeing how far you will go!

Therapy is based upon boundaries and trust. Therefore, before we begin working together, please carefully review the following information since it is the foundation on which the counseling relationship is built.

Professional Standards

I am a counseling intern under the supervision of Megan Fischetti, LCSW at Lighthouse Counseling, LLC. All diagnoses, notes, and cases are reviewed, staffed, and monitored by my supervisor. I follow the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). My office is a space where you will be respected and supported without judgment or criticism.

Education and Experience

I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology from Virginia Tech and am currently a graduate student at Regent University. I am completing my final courses and am set to graduate with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2026. I am a resident of Virginia gathering education and experience through my internship at Lighthouse Counseling. I am also an ordained minister and am trained through Invicta University to conduct Christian inner healing and deliverance.

Therapeutic Orientation

Although I base treatment on the unique needs of each client, I primarily utilize Strengths-Based Therapy (SBT) approach while also integrating interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I look at you as a whole person: spirit, soul, and body. Based on your goals that you share, we will come up with a plan and approach that is best suited to you and your needs. Additionally, I hold strong Christian values and am willing and able to integrate spirituality into treatment as much or little as you would like. I will follow your lead and encourage you to talk about any concerns or questions you may have.

Limits of Confidentiality

I do not take the fact you are sharing intimate information about yourself with me lightly. Your information is privileged communication protected by both state law and my professional ethics. I will hold everything you divulge in confidentiality with only a few exceptions:

1) Due to being an intern, all sessions are under the privy of my supervisor, Megan Fischetti. She is also under the same ethical standards of professional conduct and is committed to protecting your information; or

2) You indicate you are going to fatally harm yourself or others; or

3) You indicate there is imminent harm being planned against another person; or

4) You indicate harm or abuse to a child or an elderly individual; or

5) I am court ordered to share information; or

6) The client is under the age of 18. When speaking to the client’s legal guardian, I will share general topics we are discussing in sessions rather than specific details when possible. However, the client’s legal guardians have the legal right to the client’s records.

Other than the few situations described, I will not share any information about your status as a client, treatment plan, possible diagnosis, and story without your consent.

Legally, you may review your records under certain conditions; please talk with me if this is a concern for you. Please know that all your records will be kept under strict privacy and not released without your consent. Diagnostic and testing information will be used for our sessions together and to help guide my work with you.

Purpose

The purpose of counseling is to assist you in your growth process as a person. This process will help you gain insight about yourself and others. You get to decide what goals you would like to work towards.

Before beginning therapy, we will discuss and agree on goals and a treatment plan. Working collaboratively is essential to building a positive therapeutic alliance. You are free to refuse to participate in counseling at any time. We will discuss the risks and benefits of treatment, often reevaluate our treatment plan, and adjust goals as needed to meet your needs.
