Katrina Cramer-Diaz M. Ed., LRIC

Professional Disclosure Statement

Counselor Qualifications and Areas of Practice: I practice as a Licensed Resident in Counseling (LRIC) in the state of Virginia, under the supervision of Jessica Salinas Rodriguez, LPC, providing individual counseling. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University and a Master of Education in School Counseling from The College of William and Mary. My areas of practice include conflict resolution, improving communication skills, and short-term solution focused therapy. I will make appropriate referrals should we find that my clinical experience will not effectively meet your clinical needs. I work with adults, adolescents, and children aged 5 and above. If you have any questions or concerns throughout our time together, I encourage you to first reach out to me and see if we can come to a resolution. If you have any remaining questions or concerns after we have communicated, you may reach my supervisor at jessica@lighthouse-counselingllc.com.

Theoretical Orientation: I combine a Person-Centered approach with elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I also incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory for a holistic journey toward healing. I believe it is important to include the client when determining the most effective approach to implement in their counseling experience. Developing a healthy therapeutic relationship with clients is key in the process of growth toward healthy self-esteem, wholeness, and restoration. I provide spiritual interventions including faith-based discussions where they apply to the client’s needs and when requested by the client. I value every client’s autonomy and therefore, clients are never required to participate in any modality, either clinical or spiritual, at any time.

Code of Ethics: As stated before, I am a Licensed Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia. I am required to follow the ethical and professional standards of the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. This code of ethics outlines my responsibilities to uphold a professional and appropriate relationship with clients. Outlined in this code are the values of the counseling profession and the purpose of the therapeutic relationship between counselors and clients. Following the ACA code of ethics will allow me to function at my highest potential and to do what is in your best interest as my client. At the same time, the direction given in my therapy sessions is clearly influenced by both my Christian faith and counseling theory. If your core beliefs differ from mine, please discuss this with me. Please feel free to share any concerns and ask questions about any aspect of the counseling process including treatment approach, progress, and the termination (the end) of the counseling process.
